Ruben Amorim admits that Manchester United has taken a risk with his transfer business and that everyone is fighting for their work by summer.
This was a breeding season for everyone who was connected to the Old Trafford Club. The fights of the Red Devils have continued since the Portuguese Erik Ten Hag replaced as head coach in November.
United bears 13th place in the Premier League after losing 2-0 against Crystal Palace last weekend when Amorim said that the club “tried everything” to make improvements before the transfer is closed.
Despite the glaring need for gates, nothing was happening, and the team looks short when they want to return to Leicester at the FA Cup on Friday against Leicester.
“I think the club takes its time,” said Amorim. “We know the urgency of the moment, the moment of the team.
“But I think everyone here doesn’t want to make some mistakes that we have made in the past. So we have to improve the players and win some games.
“Then we will see in summer, but as I said, we are very careful with transfers because we have made some mistakes in the past.”
United have such mistakes with an unbalanced squad and a limited financial ability to strengthen a team that Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia recently borrowed.
Allowing these players to allow the experience and options in a group to be reduced that was only strengthened by the arrival of highly valued defender Patrick Dorgu (20) and Ayden Heaven (18).
“I think it’s a moment that is difficult in just a few games to turn things around,” said Amorim. “It will be so hard until the end of the season.
“Then we take this risk about which you are talking about because we want something else in our team and other profiles, and that is my area, so it was my decision to do that.
“We take some risks, but that’s how we want to continue. We would like to win a few games, we can improve our team, we will have time for training because I always complain about the time for training.
“Now we have time for training, we will improve the team. The players, I want a certain type of player with a different profile and we change immediately. “
When asked whether there is a risk that the approach could give him pressure on him, Amorim – who trains on Friday against the former assistant of United Ruud van Nistelrooy – said: “This is clear and it is also exciting.
“I know when I choose this job that you have the risk of results and I already knew when I came here. I look at the schedule, I look at the team and I understood that my decision to change everything, these hard decisions make in the middle of the season without new obligations it is a danger to a trainer.
“But since the first day, with good results or bad results, I have a clear idea of what I want to do and I take these risks, because in the end I think it will pay off.
“But I’m not naive, I have already said that this is often a result of results and we are in a difficult situation.”
The departure of the local striker Rashford, which was loaned to Aston Villa for the rest of the season, was the outstanding decision by Amorim.
The 27-year-old is included in the option for permanent movement, and the Portuguese had no interest in talking about a player that he recently had to ask questions.
“People, in summer … As we said, we are fighting for our jobs until summer,” said Amorim with a smile.
“So I only focus on these games. Fortunately about Marcus, he is now with Unai (Emery) in Birmingham so that you can bring these questions to another trainer. At the moment we are only concentrating on our players. “
